50 BEST VALUE REDS, DECANTER MAGAZINE “Concha y Toro really knows how to extract the most from its grapes as this vanilla-scented Merlot from Peumo in the Maipo Valley Shows. Opulent blackberry and cassis richness and spicy notes in a framework of supple tannins and juicy acidity.”
Anthony Rose, Decanter Magazine
Concha y Toro's top Single Vineyard Merlot. I'm not sure of the age of the vines, but based on the concentration I'm guessing there are 30+ year vines involved.

Riverbed associated soils, deep alluvial clayloam. Clay provides water retention, which contributes to good grape ripening. It goes a long way towards controlling plant growth. |
Sub humid Mediterranean. Hot days give way to temperate nights. The nearby Cachapoal River abates summer temperatures by night, a trend that helps in the development of this variety's softer tannins. |
| Winemaker's Notes |
| Dark and deep red. Rich and deftly balanced yet muscular red, layers of complex currant, spice, wild berry and plum. Show off a nice touch of vanilla oak and mocha, adding a nice dimension. There's already some complexity beginning to develop out of its firm, quiet, supple core. |
