"This Cabernet unfolds in serious but elegant form. The nose is dusty and dark, with cassis and blackberry aromas. Meanwhile, the feel is juicy and fresh, and the palate is just sizable enough. Flavors of cassis, chocolate and coconut are modern and friendly, while the finish of cocoa, mocha and marmalade is exciting. 90 points."
Wine Enthusiast Magazine, May 2009
From the prestigious Marques de Casa Concha range (all rated 90+ wines) this Cabernet Sauvignon shows the class of the Puente Alto sub-region of the Maipo Valley.
AGING 18 months in French oak barrels (36% in new and 64% in 2nd use)
ORIGIN Puente Alto Vineyard, Maipo Valley
SOIL Alluvial origin, stony, poor in nutrients and, due to its elevated gravel content, highly permeable. This soil nourishes plants of scarce vigor and concentrated, ripe bunches.
CLIMATE Semi-arid Mediterranean, the Andes Mountains are the strongest geographic influence. This is the coldest area of the greater Maipo Valley. Steep day-to-night temperature variation promotes good fruit concentration and intense aromas.
