"94/100 - A glass-staining, inky dark red/purple colour with a magnificently perfumed bouquet displaying blue/blackberries, cedar oak and gentle spice. The palate is opulent and packed with ripe berry flavours. The texture is dense but smooth providing luxurious mouthfeel with fine, chalky tannins at the end. An outstanding Syrah."

Another outstanding wine from kiwi winemaker Grant Phelps. This Secreto Syrah from the Colchagua valley is rich and succulant without going over the top. Only two out of twenty six Syrahs that won Gold's at the NZIWS weren't from Australia. This Syrah was one of them.
Chile is beginning to cause aa bit of a stir with it's Syrah's. Half of the Gold Medals it won in the Decanter World Wine Awards were with this variety.
