Viu Manent

 Founded in the middle of the 19th century, the vineyard was started with fine varieties imported from France. The vineyard and the winery of Hacienda Cunaco were acquired in 1966 by Bodegas Viu.  Today Viďż˝a Viu Manent consists of 260 ha. of vineyards.  The vineyard at Hacienda Cunaco is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Viogner and the smaller vineyard at Fundo La Capilla with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Built with up to date technology, the winery has a capacity of 2 million litres in stainless steel tanks and two and a half million liters in epoxy lined cement and 300,000 liters in French and American Oak Barrels. They export primarily to Europe, Asia and North America

 

Winemaker:  Grant Phelps is a New Zealander who joined Viu Manent in 2003.  He has been in Chile since 2001, having worked for Errazuriz from 2001-2003.  He has a Masters in Viticulture and winemaking from Lincoln University and also worked for Villa Maria (Esk Valley) and Orlando Wyndham in Australia.
