Late Harvest

The first written account of late harvest wine occurred in the mid-1600's - not in France, but in the Tokay region of Hungary when a priest/winemaker delayed the harvest because of an impending attack by the Turks. The locals were so enchanted by the resulting wine that they started digging into the hill - sure that the cause of this gold coloured sweet flavoured wine must have been the gold that the roots were touching!
